One would think traveling with toddlers is a nightmare, but it turned out, the joy of trip quadrupled because of the LO. The excitement in her eyes, her enthusiasm will make you jump with joy. Below I am going to describe how I prepared for my journey to India with my almost 2 year old toddler. Our journey spans 45 days and I decided to be prepared.
I maybe a bit over prepared for which I was glad, because my LO thoroughly enjoyed the trip and did not have any issues. Even a slight rub from the essential oil which might be used only once, gave me a bit of a relief. Some of the products which are heavily used are:
(1) Multivitamin
I was in search for a tablets which do not need refrigeration. The ones I used before the trip needed to be kept cold. I wanted a natural plant based multivitamin and this one has added probiotics. Rainbow One Kids One MultiStars
(2) Probiotics
I wanted probiotics with no refrigeration needed like multivitamin. My LO’s constipation issue was resolved with probiotics. So probiotics is a must. After good amount of research I narrowed down to these 2 probiotics.
Since Optibac needed 30 day for shipment, I opted for Biogaia probiotics.
For ourselves, we used the Jarrows probiotics (not daily) My father-in-law gave it a try when we were in India and was super duper happy with the product, we left the whole packet and resent it after we are back.
However, I did not diligently give both probioitcs and multivitamin tablets to her daily as she ate and pooped fine throughout the journey.
This one is really helpful and is always on the top shelf of my bag. Not always when travelling, you have access to a tap to clean your hands to feed your kid or clean kids almost always messy hands.
I cannot imagine any trip without this water bottle. It just puts you at ease knowing the water is clean. After reading the reviews on how it filters the water, I was happy to give her any drinking water in India, safely put in this bottle. It definitely feels awkward to ask someone when we go to their home, if their water is purified filter water.
One amazing product, I used it like crazy. We also visited Kerala which is full of bugs and mosquitoes. Not a bite on my LO. Happy with purchase and will always travel with this one even in future. We used it on ourselves too. Left it in India as it will be useful for our in-laws than us here.
These can work as a natural healthy candy or a sore throat soothener.
Helpful to wipe LO face, nose, hands, tables, flight chairs whenever needed.
Though I bought this, I did not find this when my LO said she had some tummy pain. Fortunately its something minor and found this one later. I was thinking of using this more as I am motion sick and cannot tolerate even a car unless I close my eyes.
(9) EmergenC
A good buy in the sense, it was useful for my relatives. I was so glad to be not using some stuff throughout the journey. Even with a hint of a sneeze or cold, I thought I would give her this.
(10) Medical Kit
Thermometer, Tylenol, Acetaminophen, Nosefrida, Band Aids, etc.
(11) Snack food
Dehydrated soaked nuts (Soak nuts for a day, heat at the lowest oven setting until crisp) This was definitely a savior. Eating raw nuts is not advisable. Its a completely new blog topic. Fruits, Milk and juice beverages are available in flight and can be requested anytime. Sometimes snack bars and chocolates, but it is better to have our own bars if possible.
(12) Accessories
Diapers, Wipes, Pad to put the kid on while changing diapers, couple of plastic bags, sunscreen, moisturizer, lipbalm, 2 more outfits for LO, shirts for you,
Make sure the one with the kid is on the aisle seat. The only critical times are take off and landing. Make sure the LO is chewing or drinking something during that time, to have negligible effect on the ear. Or place cotton balls (I forgot to take them) in the ear.
Regarding the apps in the Iphone. We were never fans of giving Iphone to LO. I bought some toys in a dollar store, as a surprise, so they are new to her, but never got to use them. Even in the flight she was given some coloring books and crayons and blanket. Make sure you keep food for your LO from your plate, if she is a lap-infant. The food for her (a pouch) is not worth it, mostly because my LO never liked store bought baby foods. She loved walking to and fro throughout the journey. She made friends with the air hostess, got pics with their Polaroid cameras and emirates head turbans. The flight journey was very memorable and not too daunting. A surprise get-together was planned on our reaching India, when LO is very cranky. After she had a good nights sleep, she was back to her normal and playful self. She loved playing with kids in the balcony everyday, no car seat in the car, the weather, tasty food, grandparents, functions, auto, etc.We had an amazing time altogether and wish you all the same. The final most important thing is to capture all the lovely memories in your camera.
