Pre-Post Workout Proteins

With a knowledge on Phytic acid, I was on the lookout for a protein powder which is prepared in the correct way. Why I think that is important.  The nutritional profile of a product maybe great, but it does not make sense if the body is unable to absorb all the nutrients.  If we eat grains, seeds, nuts improperly, it will damage our gut in the long run resulting in IBS, UC, Crohns, Alzhiemers, etc.  If we are going to chow down so much of protein at once, we at least need to know what we are eating is right.  I was searching for a complete plant based protein powder without grains, seeds, nuts and it was in vain. Did not find one. It would have been perfect. I understand though. Almost all protein powders had a grain or a seed. Single Source Protein Powders Since we are mostly eating clean and avoiding all processed food, the most simple protein powders made sense to me: Brown Rice Protein  Hemp Seed Protein Brown Rice is complicated with it...

12 Must-Haves when Travelling with a Toddler

One would think traveling with toddlers is a nightmare, but it turned out, the joy of trip quadrupled because of the LO. The excitement in her eyes, her enthusiasm will make you jump with joy. Below I am going to describe how I prepared for my journey to India with my almost 2 year old toddler. Our journey spans 45 days and I decided to be prepared.  On calling the pediatrician's office, she asked me to consult a travel consultant who will advise some vaccines. However, we decided to forgo that step. Instead, we just got the vaccines that needs to be done on her 2nd birthday a bit early on the Pediatricians recommendation.  I maybe a bit over prepared for which I was glad, because my LO thoroughly enjoyed the trip and did not have any issues. Even a slight rub from the essential oil which might be used only once, gave me a bit of a relief. Some of the products which are heavily used are: (1) Multivitamin I was in search for a tablets which do not need refrigerat...

Products I use for a Toxin Free Home

Lot of us want to use the right products but do not have enough time to look into what will the right products for us. Here I compile some of the products I use. Food We completely stopped buying processed food to avoid chemicals and preservatives and artificial dyes. All our produce is organic, non-gmo. Personal Care Products We started using more all natural organic shampoo (shikakai), soap  , toothpaste , acne mask , moisturizer (jojoba oil and aloe vera), oil for massage for baby, sanitizer during travel, bug repeller during travel , essential oils (learning more about them). Got some epsom salt bath crystals. Shower Products Though we added a chlorine water filter to our shower, we are still in the process of buying the right shower curtain. Its a process and we are evolving. Sanitation Products We started buying all green products to clean up our kitchen, bathroom and glass. It is a big relief to see that we are becoming more holistic day by day. Why infuse our...

Steal, Glass, Iron beat Plastic, Aluminium and Teflon

Non-Stick Free Learning about the disadvantages of non-stick, we completely eliminated its use from our home a year back. We were experimenting with ceramic, iron and ended with mostly stainless steel cookware. For a Tawa we use iron and others mostly steel. For electric rice cooker, we use the stainless steel like this which made a lot of sense. The previous one always needs replacement every year as the non stick coating keeps disappearing. We love this as this is life long. I love the steel so much. Respect to steel grew when my mom showed me all the steel utensils she got from her mom. These just go from generations to generations with no issues like leaching into the food. Plastic Free All of the tupperware we use is currently steel. There is a lot of issues with using plastic. And putting them in dishwasher is toxic. After learning that most of the BPA free containers also contain BPA in kids bottles, etc, we completely eliminated plastic so much that I recently bought stai...

All Organic, No Processed Food, No GMO

Though we were converting to organic food a bit during my pregnancy, we were not very serious about it. If any fruit or vegetable did not have thick skin, we thought organic food makes sense as the pesticides only affect the skin. We didn't know much about genetically modified foods (GMO's). After a couple of documentaries like GMO OMG in Netflix, and another health issues we thought going organic is cheaper in the long run. Also with a baby, we do not want to eat anything harmful. The only reason that is stopping us from going organic is the cost which really didn't make sense after the hospital costs. So now we are completely organic. No GMO's. At first we bought organic processed foods, but now, we are mostly free of processed food, all we buy is produce - fruits and vegetables only. And of-course grains, lentils, legumes, beans, corn, nuts, etc. All organic. Except for my kid, we are dairy free too except for yoghurt. I tend to notice in my baby, whenever I gi...

About me

I am a simple wife and mom who wants to do things right and trying to find direction in life. This is my attempt at giving back to the online community as I learned a lot from the internet, especially from those who write blogs about their quality lifestyle and how they overcome obstructions. I am from India and live in USA. Its been a decade here from my masters. Having seen both worlds, I consider myself lucky to have witnessed two different cultures and gets to choose from both. To describe myself a year back, I was lazy with no physical activity whatsoever and always ate unhealthy food or rather never cared about food. I would like to elaborate on food stuff a bit, I ate the 1 dollar chicken burger for a complete year daily. For my 30th birthday, when my husband asked me what I want, I asked him to take to all fast food joints, so I can eat what I liked in each one, like tortilla salsa at one place, cake in another, pie, onion rings, etc. To describe myself now, just opp...
